Sights on the way to Oregon. Across the river is highway 84. There are big
rigs on the highway, but you really have to look to see them. This is a huge
mountain on the other side of the Columbia River (Columbia River Gorge)
and I mean HUGE

We found Champagina State Park ans set up. This spot was between Salem & Portland. We decided to check out Salem first. Of course we went to the Capital. It was a nice building. Not to fancy. The original building is long gone. This one is a little more modern. Not to much art work.

May 29, 2009 Friday - We have been at the same RV Park for a few days now. The first day we just got set up and then rested. We went to Salem to see the capital. The next day we drove to a town outside of Portland to visit Sharon. She used to be a clown in The All Star Clown Club in San Diego. We had a nice visit. Achoo is her clown name. She has created a sweet environment for her self. And it seems her health is better than when she was in San Diego. After we left her place we did some necessary shopping and then came back to our home away from home.

We found this sign downtown. It was right near what is know by the locals as Portland's Kitchen. We found a lot of people eating in this kind of Downtown Square.

There was something special about this day. We were both relaxed and really enjoyed each others company. We ate junk food and learned how to use the downtown parking system. We ate at Mickey D's and CJ. FUN! We also went to Ross and I got a few items. We both liked Portland and can see why people move here. I don't think we could stand the 179 days of rain. When we returned to the RV Park we stopped at the Visitors Center. We were both amazed to find this really interesting history of Oregon, The Hudson Bay Company and the people including the Indian. We found out we are located in a flood zone. They tried to build a thriving trade center here, but it was washed away, not just once but twice. In the Center they had different pelts we could touch. All in all a good time.

We stayed in Elma, Washington. The RV park was nice and it was south of Olympia. When we got to Elma on Saturday we were both tired and just hung out the first day. We have both been trying to get rid of colds.
